The Driving Force :

The creation of this Web Site development was sparked by the construction of a Top Flite, 1/5 scale P-51. A noticable lack of information encouraged the collection of information which soon became out-of-control. The theme for this aircraft is 'Old Boy'

The information gathered in this collection of web pages is for your information, enjoyment and to assist model builders in the construction of accurate and authentic scale replicas of the P-51 Mustang especially the 'D' Model.

The information contained on these pages was collected, over a period of time from:

  • Numerous Web Sites some of which are listed under 'links'
  • An extensive collection of technical documentation and documentation developed by North American Aviation, the builder of the airplane
  • Commercialy available technical documents such as Squadron, Detail and Scale Publications
  • A substantial amount of information was obtained from accurate scale models developed by Tamia, Trumpeter, and Black Box Products.
  • A lot of 'Walk Around' photographs are used to define or clarify various details.

 

 

The Model Chosen :

The airplane discussed on these pages is a Top Flite Giant Scale Mustang. The engine is a US 41cc and the retracts are Robart 625. The progressive landing gear doors use UCI equipment. The cockpit is scratch built based on the resource data.
